A discussion prompted me to try to create a perfect formula for splitting the cost of a carpool.

This is intended for those of us who perceive carpool as a purely economical venture without regard for the interpersonal aspects.

So lets see what factors should be included in the formula (please add more):

1) Cost of gas
2) Weight of the passengers and their luggage
3) Size of luggage
4) Cost of mileage to compensate for wear and tear as well as the loss of marketability
5) Cost of a mile using the tires on the car (cost of tire/warranty miles)
6) tolls
7) Maintenance of the vehicle (use maintenance schedule for the vehicle)
8) BTU created by passengers
9) Need for extra power from the engine based on requests for A/C
10) I am running out of ideas, please contribute

Tax Rebate

So I got the tax rebate. I want to spend it so that most of it helps the economy. Most of my planned purchases have been budgeted without use of the tax rebates.

1) Booze - I don't buy much domestic stuff and the $600 will go a very long way.
2) Air travel - money will go to OPEC and the Unions...
3) Electronics - I go for Japanese companies mostly

So any ideas?
